Hi everyone. Welcome to August! We will be shooting one of the last two shots we have for our music video…tomorrow. Lets just say it’s on a rooftop in Chicago and is the ending of the music video. The new video is looking great. The chase scene was especially fun to shoot. We’ll let you know when it will premier and how to get your paws on it / request it soon.

Hey everyone,

We’ve been really busy since the new album has come out and it’s left you with a lack of updates. So, from here on out we’ll try to do better! All may have seemed quiet, but we have been working on a new music video for you. We have a heavy day of shooting on Sunday April 25^th. The new video is for “Play With Fire” off our new album Silver Or Lead. Which is available here: http://gypsyfly.net/products.html (if you don’t have one already). We are working with the same director that did our last video, and some new talented members of the crew. There was a photo shoot for the video last week and I’m excited to finish this production. It’s an action video. We’ll keep the details a secret …..for now! We’ll leak little by little out, until it’s time to view it. We’ll let you in on some behind the scenes stuff through our new blog. We are doing things we have never done before which is leaving us all excited.

We will start playing out in about a month. We have shows booked, we just want to wait until the video is done to start hitting it. We have been rehearsing hard (as usual) so the live show we’ll be on pace with what your use to getting from us! There’s even an all ages show in the mix. We’ll have more info on how, where and when you’ll be able to catch us live next month. Till then…tell all of your friends about Silver Or Lead and we’ll see you soon!

An undeniably catchy mix of metal and pop punk, Gypsyfly can without a doubt “rawk!” with the best of them, which is readily apparent on “You’re Gonna Get It” and the closing number, “The Day Night Ended.” However, this hybrid of genres doesn’t work for every track on Silver Or Lead. Ballads like “Don’t Worry” as well as the guitar-driven “Play With Fire” are just a couple of examples where the contrasts in musical ideologies are hardly a perfect match.

Wednesday, January 27th we will be playing live at the Double Door.  The show is 21 and older.  We are opening that night , so get there by 7:30 p.m.  Also, If you live in the north-west suburbs and would like a cheap transportation option, e-mail T2k@gypsyfly.net.  A bus has been rented to take people to and from the Double Door.  The bus leaves at 5:30 p.m. and will make a return around 10:00 p.m.  This will be the first show for our new album Silver or Lead.

What's your favorite song on this album?

 

T2k: Mine is play with fire. I'm sure the other guys would each have a different answer. I like the element of danger, and liking or needing it. That song deals with that. It's about a girl but it applies to it none the less.

 

What's the album about?

 

Ash: It's not a themed record but there is a common feeling to all of our albums. With the climate we're in right now some people are being pushed to the limit. We've all felt this before and you'd be surprised what one can be capable of. The first song written was “Silver or Lead”, which means money or bullet. Spanish assassins used to ask that of their targets before they'd kill them, It means pay me or I'll kill you. We operate in black and white. We're old school. There's right and wrong but when you're wronged you want to take some type of revenge..which feels right and justified, but is ultimately wrong ..LOL. So it deals with all of those emotions.

 

What's different / how have you changed as a band since your last CD?

 

JJ: Wow, good question. I know we must have changed a little bit. I can't put my finger on it though. But we always have the same work ethic and desire to get better. We know what we do and get more comfortable with that. I think we let another side of us show on this album. We were more confident as songwriters showing a wider variety of emotions.

 

Where did you record it?

 

Ash: Our studio..Baby Monitors.

 

Did you do anything different in recording?

 

JJ: We all recorded in the same room, at the same time. We wanted that energy to come across. Anyone who had seen us live in the past always commented on how our live show was so energetic. We have been trying to find a way to capture that for years....This album is closer to our live show than the others.

 

What inspires you while recording, or what do you listen to:

 

T2k: It depends what mood I'm in or what stage of recording we're at. If I'm getting burnt out I need something drastically different. I personally will listen to Tahiti 80, the Doves or some R+B like John Legend or Neyo. If I'm studying structure, I listen to stuff more in our wheel house. Sugarcult, Stereophonics, AFI, the Used , the Living End, Unwritten law and many more. When I'm listening as a mixer, something that's similar to what I'm mixing or has exciting elements that catch my attention.

 

 

Are the songs mostly about yourselves or others on this CD? Is It stuff you experienced or fiction?

 

T2k: The music is more of a mood thing. The lyrics are more about people around us. Friends, enemies, girlfriends past present...future LOL. On this CD we were more aware of our people around us struggling with certain things. There are songs on here about people that will never know it's about them. Then we try to approach it lyrically by putting ourselves in their shoes.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates but we’ve been really busy trying to finish the CD. We recently recorded the drums, Bass, guitars, and vocals for the last song. We are just mixing it. We have some little odds and ends to add here or there to certain songs, then we’re done. We should finish those within the week. We have some people coming in to do some talking vocal tracks this week. Some ladies we know have been nice enough to help us out. The artwork is already been pre-designed for the album and all were waiting on is getting everyone scheduled for these last sessions. Then we are done! There are also some new photos is the photo gallery on our website. They are from the Double Door show that we came out of the studio to play on July 23rd. There are more photos on our face book and myspace pages. If you go to the link section on our website there are links to take you there. Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter! We have been contacted by some of our favorite venues to play there and we’re holding off till the album has a release date set. Then we will be back to a regular concert schedule!

Hi everyone and Happy 4th of July.

We have a little surprise of our own for you! We put new teaser samples of three new songs on our website, myspace and pure volume. These songs aren’t final mixes or mastered yet but you’ll get the idea. We have had allot of people asking to hear something so we thought we’d tease you s little bit. We are choosing someone to master the album now and have it down between a few.

We are also shooting the album cover this Monday (6:00 a.m.) in Chicago. We have a cool concept and some really talented people we are fortunate to work with. So, we’re excited. Today is rehearsing and getting clothes together for the photo shoot. Then a little relaxation tomorrow and back to work.

The Double Door will be here soon (July 22nd) and we are looking forward to getting out of the studio and playing live. We are playing all new songs from our new After that we have once last track to record and then the album is done. We are hoping for the end of summer but we don’t want to shoot a date and then rush it. It depends on how long the post-production, mastering and artwork / pressing takes.

Hi guys. We are just letting you know that we had a meeting last night with the people who are going to be shooting our album pictures. We met at one of the locations that we’re going to shoot at and it looks really cool. We can’t wait. We were pushing for the album to come out in July but we pushed it back. We just weren’t happy with the final track, but we’ve been writing until we were satisfied and I think we have a winner. We’ve worked really hard on this album and we don’t want to get tired and just slap anything on it for the last track.

So, the Double Door will be our pre-release show where we play a ton of stuff off our new album. Then shortly there after we will release the new album and hit the live shows. As we get the pictures and artwork done we will release new merchandise and let you know just how you can get a copy of the album. You’ll have multiple options that will be really easy for you.

The Double Door is July 22nd (Wednesday) and we are going to tell you just how you can get a ride there and not have to worry about driving. We are renting a bus that will take the first 44 people who sign up to and from the venue. The bus will pick people up at a location in the Northwest suburbs and drop them off there at the end of the night. We arranged it where it will be $6 / per seat (roundtrip) and we will let you know where you can wire the money too. Once you do, you will get a seat # and an e-mail ticket so you can claim your seat on the day of the concert. The buss will leave at 8 P.M.. and return at 1 A.M. Remember that the show is absolutely FREE. So , If you get on the bus, you arrive there without having to drive, or pay parking, and $6 is all it takes to get you there. This is a special night for us so we wanted to make sure it was easy for you to join us. However, it is 21 and older.

Hey guys. We are finishing up the CD. We have all the tracks written. We are getting ready to record the final two. We recorded the Intro last week and we're mixing it this week.

We are also starting to rehearse for our live shows again this week. We are headlining a BAND BAILOUT concert series at the Double Door in July. We hope this will be the day our CD / new album is released.

Due to the show getting added and us still finishing up the record. There is an outside chance we might not make it in time. We are trying though. We just don't want to work for so long and then rush the last two tunes. Plus album artwork ect.

So we are pushing for a release in July (hopefully the 22nd) and we will have full shows up soon after that and then we'll be hitting it hard the rest of the summer, fall and winter.

P.S. we are also working on concepts for our next music video and we might shoot the performance part the night of Double Door. We’ll also be recording the show for an upcoming LIVE CD / album.
We'll have a surprise on how you can be apart of it soon. Till then ......back to work!

We're getting there guys. Thanks for all the e-mails and interest. We have nine songs as we speak. Today we will work on the 9th song to tighten it up a but before we lay it down. We have been going over all the mixes and tweaking them as well. We're writing an intro to the album and working on a batch of new songs for a hopeful on the tenth track.

We will have an announcement soon as where you'll be able to see us live. That's right our first show with the new album. We will announce a rough date soon for release and how you'll be able to get it.
